Welcome to July…Wild Fire
July is a big month astrologically for 2026. It's the mid-way, pivot point, but we're also in a Mercury retrograde for most of the month. It's in Cancer AND it's Cancer season, so the energy of home, family, mother, our maternal lineage, nurturing, and care are all being activated. It's a water sign, so it's emotional, intuitive, and sensitive. It's a time to slow down and reflect, except we're in the year of the Fire Horse...and things are picking up speed.
I've been trying to write you for over a week, but a really old pattern snuck in...total shut down. I can see how it snuck in. The last few weeks have been wild: three young women in my orbit diagnosed with cancer, almost getting a Doberman puppy & deciding it wasn't the right time, not having electricity in half my home for two weeks (electricians come tomorrow 🤞), and experiencing the absence of Ranger losing his mind from fireworks (so much grief still there).
And, then there's the astrology. With Mercury being retrograde (appearing to move backwards), we are being asked to review, re-evaluate, revise, reframe, rest, and repair. I've been in deep reflection and allowing myself to really rest...and listening to Wildfire 🐎 🔥 .

Tuning into Spirit and Higher Self
I had another song show up a week after the Solstice. Wildfire. I'm not sure I've heard it as an adult, so that means it had been a minimum of 35 years but more likely 45. It sent me down a rabbit hole. I didn't know anything about the song. I just remembered hearing it on the radio as a kid in Texas.
It turns out that a Texan wrote the song and writing it brought him back home to Texas. He re-released it last year with the 50th anniversary of it being #1 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart and #3 on Hot 100.

That day I pulled a 9 of Diamonds (the other card in my Life Spread's 13 year Saturn phase & my Mimi's Sun card), which is about releasing expectations in values. It helps us re-evaluate and revise how we value ourselves and what we value, allowing us to move into what's aligned, remove obstacles for abundance, and open up to flow.
This past Sunday, I pulled a 3 of Spades (my Life Spread's Moon card: what helps me feel safe, secure, supported, & nurtured). It supports alignment with higher self. I will write more about this one later, but what the heck?!
Three Sundays, three cards from my Life Spread in the three hardest weeks I've had in a very long time. This is why it's so important to have ways that you connect with Spirit and your higher self though rituals and routines to lean into. They don't have to be the same as mine.
It could be a walk during your favorite time of day, a yoga class, listening to music that you love, going to church, sitting in nature somewhere that lights you up or grounds you, reading poetry, taking a bath, meditating, painting or some other kind of art, journaling, or receiving acupuncture, energy work, or body work.
Having things that we can lean into with very little effort during the hard days, week, months, or years...they can get us through and keep us on the right track, even when if feels like we aren't.
